The first four months of 2011 have been a whirlwind of activity.
The new council began in 2010 with setting the wheels in motion for an updated Strategic Plan. This has involved a number of meetings with the Strategic Plan Committee; two Public Meetings facilitated by Jeffery Hawkins and next will be the Focus Groups that deal specifically with the Priorities.
In an effort to create an atmosphere of openness and transparency with the residents, Council is looking at a number of committees to involve the community.
Council has worked well together to get the 2011 Budget passed. Due to the amount of infrastructure work that was done over the past two years there will not be any new large projects undertaken this year. Initiatives are being looked at to create extra revenue to bring more cash flow into the municipality so that we are able to lessen the financial impact on our ratepayers. I also have to thank all of our Town Staff and Employees for all of their efforts in trying to keep our costs down and looking at ways of saving us money.
It has been great that the area Mayors and Reeves have been able to get together to discuss concerns that affect us all. I am hoping that through these meetings that there will be new areas of cooperation and understanding created.
Along with the many meeting there have also been a number of functions that I have attended on behalf of council and the municipality.
April 27th The Town Held Volunteer Appreciation Night to thank the many Volunteers that help out in Parry Sound.
